Pirbuterol
Description
This inhaled aerosol spray causes muscles around the airways to relax, opening them for easier breathing.
Dosage
Adults and children greater than or equal to 12 years old, inhale 2 puffs every 4 to 6 hours for prevention, followed by a 3rd puff for the treatment of bronchospasm. Do not exceed 12 inhalations/day. One inhalation (200mcg) repeated every 4 to 6 hours may be sufficient for some patients.
Precautions
Patients should use caution if they have hyperthyroidism, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, or if they do not respond well to this medication.
Side Effects
Nervousness, restlessness, trembling, increased heart rate, pounding heart, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, taste changes.

Common Interactions
Other beta-adrenergic agents, (MAOIs: isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine), propranolol and other beta-blockers (atenolol, esmolol, betaxolol, penbutolol, carteolol, bisorolol, pindolol, metoprolol, timolol, sotalol, acebutolol, nadolol).
Proper Storage
Keep clean and dry. Store between 15◦ and 30◦C (50◦ to 86◦F). Failure to use this product within this temperature range may result in improper dosing. For optimal results, the canister should be at room temperature before use.
